The Omron EE-SX871P is a through-beam photoelectric sensor from the SX87 series, delivering a 5 mm sensing distance with a 0.17 ms response time and 3 kHz switching frequency — fast enough for small-part counting on a pick-and-place cell or edge detection in a light conveyor line. Its PNP output, light-on switching, and 5-24 V DC supply (DC-only) simplify integration into a 24 V PLC input card without extra filtering. The L-slot body (21 x 18 x 13 mm) with a right-angle face and 2 m prewired bare-wire cable fits tight panel gaps or feed-through slots. IP64 sealing keeps dust and splash out, but not hose-down — plan for a dry or light-wash area.
