The Omron EESX872P is a photomicrosensor from the EE series, designed for fixed-gap detection at 5 mm with a PNP output. It operates across 5–24 V and switches up to 50 mA, which means it feeds signal-level inputs, not loads directly. The infrared LED emitter is pre-wired and housed in an IP60 enclosure—dust-protected but not moisture-resistant, so keep it to dry interior panel or machine cavity positions.
Compared to E3SLS10XB4
Where the EESX872P is a short-range slot sensor (5 mm), the E3SLS10XB4 from the E3S family pushes detection out to 100 mm. It also uses a red LED instead of infrared and can handle 100 mA output. Both are pre-wired PNP types, but the E3SLS10XB4's longer reach and IP67 rating suit applications needing a through-beam or retro-reflective arrangement. If your panel is specced around the E3SLS10XB4, the EESX872P will not drop in without a mechanical and wiring change.
