D curve — why it matters for motor and transformer circuits
The D curve's magnetic trip operates between 10 and 14 times rated current. For a 32 A breaker, that means instantaneous trip between 320 A and 448 A. That window clears fast enough for short-circuit protection but stays above the inrush of a typical motor starting DOL or a transformer energization — which can hit 8–12× FLA for a few cycles. A C curve (5–10× In) would trip on that same inrush; the D curve holds, then resets thermally for the running load. If your load is resistive or general-purpose with low inrush, a C curve would give tighter protection — but for motor feeders, this is the right choice.
Earth-leakage protection is handled by a separate block (not integrated). Electrical durability is 10,000 cycles; mechanical durability 20,000 cycles.
