40 A B-curve 4-pole MCB for distribution boards
The Schneider Electric A9N4P40BGN is an Acti9 xC60 miniature circuit breaker rated at 40 A with a B-curve trip characteristic, meaning the magnetic trip operates between 3 and 5 times the rated current. It carries a 10 kA breaking capacity (Icn) at both 240 V AC and 415 V AC per IS/IEC 60898-1, so it can safely interrupt fault currents up to 10 kA on single-phase or three-phase networks without upstream reinforcement. The 4-pole (4P) configuration switches all three phases and neutral, common for three-phase distribution boards where neutral isolation is required. Rated operational voltage spans 220–240 V AC and 380–415 V AC at 50/60 Hz, covering standard single-phase and three-phase supplies. The thermal-magnetic trip unit provides overload (thermal) and short-circuit (magnetic) protection in one device.
The 72 mm width (8 x 9 mm pitches) and 85 mm height fit standard distribution board cutouts; the 77.5 mm depth leaves clearance for wiring and gland plates in shallow enclosures. Wire strip length is 13 mm for top or bottom connection.
Designed and tested to IS/IEC 60898-1 for miniature circuit breakers. Relative humidity tolerance: 95 % at 55 °C. Mechanical durability rated at 20,000 cycles; electrical durability at 10,000 cycles at rated load. Overvoltage category IV (for equipment installed at or near the origin of the installation, before the main distribution board). Limitation class 3 per IS/IEC 60898-1 — energy-limiting performance for downstream equipment protection.
