The Schneider Electric A9N4P40CIN is an Acti9 xC60 miniature circuit breaker rated 40 A with a C-curve trip characteristic, 4 protected poles, and a 10 kA breaking capacity at 380–415 V AC per IS/IEC 60947-2.
The 40 A continuous rating and C-curve (magnetic trip at 8 x In ±20%) make it a standard choice for general-purpose branch circuits feeding mixed loads — lighting, small motor starters, socket outlets — where moderate inrush is expected. The 10 kA breaking capacity at 380–415 V AC (6 kA Icu at 220–250 V DC) means it can safely interrupt fault currents up to that level without upstream cascading, provided the prospective short-circuit current at the panel is within that limit. Four poles give full isolation on three-phase plus neutral circuits. Thermal-magnetic trip unit technology provides two-stage protection: the thermal bimetal handles sustained overloads, the solenoid reacts to short-circuit events. The C-curve is the most common curve for commercial distribution — it holds through motor-start and capacitor-switching inrush better than a B-curve, while still tripping fast enough for most fault scenarios.
Clip-on mounting to 35 mm DIN rail, 72 mm wide (4-pole width at 18 mm per pole), 85 mm tall, 77.5 mm deep. Biconnect bottom terminals allow daisy-chaining without additional busbars.
