RCCB for panel outgoers — 40 A, 300 mA, Type AC
The Schneider Electric A9R14440 is a 4-pole residual current circuit breaker (RCCB) from the Acti9 iID series, rated 40 A with 300 mA earth-leakage sensitivity, Type AC. It protects against sinusoidal AC fault currents in final circuits — the 300 mA threshold suits sub-distribution or feeder protection where a higher trip level avoids nuisance tripping from leakage in long cable runs or equipment with normal leakage. Rated operational voltage is 380...415 V AC at 50/60 Hz, with a rated insulation voltage of 500 V AC. Breaking capacity is 1500 A (Idm and Im), adequate for downstream fault clearing in a coordinated panel. Wire stripping length is 14 mm for top or bottom connection. Neutral is on the left, consistent with the Acti9 modular range layout.
Protection class and environmental limits
Type AC detection means it responds only to sinusoidal alternating residual currents — not pulsed DC or smooth DC. The trip is instantaneous (no time delay), so it clears earth faults immediately. The residual current tripping technology is voltage independent — it operates without an auxiliary supply, relying on the fault current itself to energize the trip mechanism. IP20 rated (finger-safe terminals) per IEC 60529; IP40 when housed in a modular enclosure. Electrical durability is 15,000 cycles under AC-1 (resistive load), mechanical durability 20,000 cycles. The device is designed for outgoer positions in distribution boards.
