RCCB for panel builders — what the ratings mean
Type A means it catches both sinusoidal AC faults and pulsating DC faults from electronics, so it covers modern loads like VFDs, UPS systems, and LED drivers.
The A9Z24291 carries a rated conditional short-circuit current of 10 kA and a rated breaking and making capacity of 1500 A. The 10 kA figure is the maximum prospective short-circuit current it can withstand when backed by an upstream overcurrent device (MCB or fuse) of the appropriate rating — it is not a standalone breaking capacity. In practice this means it is suitable for installation at the load side of a distribution board where the fault level does not exceed 10 kA. The impulse withstand voltage is 6 kV, which covers transient overvoltages in standard AC networks. Pollution degree 3 confirms it is rated for the conductive-pollution environment typical of control panels and switchgear enclosures.
Installation and wiring
Clip-on mounting on DIN rail, neutral on the left. Terminals accept double front or back entry: up to 35 mm² rigid front, 25 mm² flexible front with ferrule, and 16 mm² flexible back. Wire stripping length is 14 mm for top or bottom connection. The toggle control has a contact position indicator and can be padlocked. IP20 body protection is standard for enclosed panels; the modular enclosure achieves IP40 when installed in a suitable cabinet.
