Drive at a glance
The ATV930U55S6X is a 3-phase 600 V variable speed drive from the Altivar Process ATV900 series, built for synchronous and asynchronous motors in process industrial applications. Continuous output current is 9.5 A at 4 kHz for normal duty, dropping to 7.2 A under heavy duty. The braking chopper is integrated, so no external resistor board is needed for dynamic braking on vertical loads or short decels.
Power supply and control wiring
Digital inputs and STO are powered internally at 24 V DC (21...27 V); the reference potentiometer gets 10.5 V DC from the drive. External 24 V DC is required for any additional digital I/O modules. Control terminals accept 0.5...1.5 mm² (AWG 20...16), line and motor terminals 6...10 mm² (AWG 10...8). Spring-clamp or screw type? The listing says screw terminals. Mount it vertically within ±10°, wall-mount only. Keep ambient below the rating — 5...95% relative humidity, non-condensing.
EMC and compliance
EMC filter is integrated; an optional EMC plate is available for higher performance. Compliance includes UL 508C (US), IEC 61800-3 (EMC), IEC 61800-5-1 (safety), IEC 61000-3-12 (harmonics), IEC 60721-3 (environment), and functional safety standards IEC 61508 / IEC 13849-1.
EtherNet/IP and Modbus TCP on board; Modbus serial as well. Auto-negotiation, 10/100 Mbit/s, half or full duplex. Slot A accepts Profibus, PROFINET, DeviceNet, EtherCAT, CANopen, or Ethernet Powerlink modules. Auxiliary slots B and C accept digital/analog I/O extension, relay output, or encoder interface modules (digital 5/12 V, analog, or resolver). Good flexibility for retrofit. Built-in PID regulator handles closed-loop process control without an external controller — setpoint via analog or serial link.
