Holding brake and encoder — what locks and what tracks
Built-in holding brake with 8 N.m holding torque — enough to hold a vertical load on a gantry or Z-axis without power. The brake engages when the drive is de-energized, so the load stays put during a power loss or E-stop. Feedback is a 23-bit optical multi-turn absolute encoder. 23 bits give 8,388,608 positions per revolution; multi-turn tracking means the absolute position is retained across power cycles even after multiple shaft rotations — no homing routine needed on restart.
