Sizing this servo for the load
The BEH18LM3033CA6D delivers 3 kW continuous output power at 380 V three-phase supply, with a nominal torque of 9.8 N.m at 3000 rpm. That torque rating is the continuous stall torque as well — same 9.8 N.m figure — so the motor holds full rated torque at zero speed without thermal derating, which matters for positioning holds and tensioning applications. Peak stall torque reaches 29.4 N.m at 380 V, giving a 3:1 overload margin for acceleration transients. The torque constant is 0.967 N.m/A at 40 °C, so the continuous stall current of 10.13 A maps directly to the 9.8 N.m continuous torque; peak current draw hits 30.39 A at the 3 kW rating.
Feedback and environmental sealing
Feedback comes from a 23-bit optic multi-turn encoder — 8,388,608 counts per revolution with absolute position tracking over multiple shaft turns. No battery-backed memory required for position retention on power-down; the multi-turn count is mechanically geared. This encoder type suits applications that need position recovery after a power cycle without a home-search routine. The motor carries an IP67 rating on both the housing and the connector interface — the two male/female connectors are sealed at the mating face. This makes it suitable for washdown zones and wet environments where coolant or cleaning sprays hit the motor body. Air-cooled, no external blower needed.
Mounting and mechanical interface
Mounting uses an Asian standard flange with a 130 mm square pilot and four 9 mm mounting holes. The shaft is 28 mm diameter with a parallel key (8 mm key width), 63 mm shaft length, and no second shaft end. Maximum radial force at the shaft is 686 N; maximum axial force is 196 N — stay within these limits to avoid bearing overload, especially with belt drives or overhung loads.
