3 kW, 9.8 N.m continuous — sizing the axis
The BEH18LM3033CF6D is a 3 kW servo motor from Schneider's Lexium 18 range, rated 9.8 N.m continuous stall torque at 380 V three-phase. Peak stall torque hits 29.4 N.m — that's the short-term overload ceiling for acceleration or overcoming a jam before the drive trips.
The integrated holding brake delivers 16 N.m static holding torque — enough to keep a vertical load or a 1:1 belted axis parked when the drive is off. No external brake resistor or power-off clamp circuit needed; the brake engages on power loss. Feedback is a 23-bit absolute multi-turn optic encoder. That's 8,388,608 counts per revolution plus 4096 turns of absolute travel — the controller knows the exact position at power-up without a homing move. The optic encoder gives better accuracy than a magnetic resolver at low speed but is less tolerant of shock and contamination. IP67 rating means the motor body and the connector interface are sealed against dust ingress and temporary immersion. On a washdown line or in a wet machining environment, the motor survives direct spray — the connector O-ring is the sealing boundary, not the housing thread.
Mounting and mechanical interface
The motor uses a 130 mm Asian standard flange with 9 mm mounting holes — common for direct-mounting to gearboxes or machine frames in Asian-sourced machine tool builds. The shaft is 28 mm diameter with a parallel key (8 mm key width), 63 mm shaft length. Maximum radial force at the shaft centre is 686 N; axial force limit is 196 N — stay within these for bearing life.
