Motor ratings and what they drive
The BEH18MM1023MF6D is a 1 kW servo motor from the Lexium 18 family, rated for 2000 rpm nominal speed at 380 V three-phase supply. The 4.77 Nm continuous stall torque matches the nominal torque figure, so the motor delivers its rated torque across the full speed range without thermal derating at the base point. The holding brake is rated 16.0 Nm, which exceeds the continuous torque by a factor of 3.3 — enough to hold a vertical axis load at standstill without back-driving through the gearbox. The brake is spring-applied, power-off engaged, so a power loss locks the axis.
Encoder and feedback for positioning
The 17-bit magnetic multi-turn encoder gives 131,072 counts per revolution and tracks absolute position over multiple shaft turns without a battery backup. This resolution supports positioning to within a fraction of a degree at the motor shaft, which translates to sub-micron repeatability at the load with a typical ballscrew. Magnetic encoder technology is less sensitive to contamination than optical encoders — the sealed IP67 motor housing protects the sensor from oil mist and cutting fluid that would fog an optical disk.
The Asian standard flange (130 mm square, 4 mounting holes) and the 22 mm shaft with parallel key match the Lexium 18 mechanical interface. Confirm the mating drive (Lexium 28 or Lexium 32 series) supports the 17-bit multi-turn feedback protocol before committing the BOM line.
