Sizing the motor for the load
The BEH18MM1523MF6C delivers 1.5 kW continuous power at 2000 rpm nominal speed on a single-phase 220 V supply — the torque constant is 0.887 N·m/A at 40 °C, so the continuous stall current of 8.07 A maps directly to 7.16 N·m continuous stall torque. The holding brake holds 16.0 N·m static torque, enough to keep a vertical axis from drifting when power is removed — the brake engages when the drive disables the motor, so the axis stays put during a power loss or E-stop.
Mounting and environmental fit
The motor uses an Asian standard flange with a 130 mm flange size and four mounting holes — the shaft is 22.0 mm diameter with a parallel key (key width 8.0 mm), shaft length 58.0 mm, and no second shaft end. Overall dimensions: 183.6 mm length (including shaft), 174.5 mm depth, 130 mm height, 183.6 mm width — the IP67 rating means the motor body and connectors withstand washdown, so it can be mounted directly on a food-processing or washdown conveyor without a secondary enclosure. Maximum radial force on the shaft is 686 N, maximum axial force is 196 N — these set the belt-pulley or coupling load limits; exceeding them shortens bearing life.
Feedback and electrical interface
The built-in 17-bit magnetic multi-turn encoder provides absolute position feedback over 131,072 counts per revolution — no homing cycle needed on power-up for applications that track position across power cycles. Electrical connection is via two connectors (male/female) — the motor has 10 poles and is air-cooled; the back EMF constant is 63.21 V/krpm at 40 °C, which sets the voltage ceiling at high speed.
