Feedback and brake for position-hold applications
The BEH18MR4413MF6D: A 17-bit magnetic multi-turn encoder provides absolute position feedback over multiple shaft revolutions, eliminating the need for a home cycle on power-up in many applications. The holding brake delivers 50 Nm static torque, enough to secure a vertical axis load without the drive holding current — essential for safety in gantry or Z-axis stages where power loss must not drop the load.
Electrical parameters for drive sizing
Continuous stall current is 15.6 A, rising to 37.8 A maximum at 4.4 kW and 380 V. The stator resistance of 0.391 Ohm and torque constant of 1.821 Nm/A at 40 °C allow the drive to calculate current setpoints for commanded torque. Back EMF constant is 125.24 V/krpm at 40 °C — this sets the bus voltage headroom needed at higher speeds. Air-cooled, so forced ventilation must be clear of obstructions.
