What you need to know sourcing this servo motor
The BMI0702T17A is a single-phase servo motor from Bosch Rexroth's BMI series, with absolute multiturn Hiperface feedback. It does not carry a holding brake, so if your application needs to hold position without power, plan for a separate brake or a drive with a holding function. Voltage determines speed: at 230 V single-phase it turns 4000 rpm nominal, but at 115 V single-phase that drops to 1700 rpm. Continuous stall torque holds at 2.48 N.m regardless of which voltage you feed it – the torque curve doesn't shift, only the top speed. Feedback is absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface, so the drive knows the motor position at power-up without a homing move. Works with any drive that supports Hiperface – common on Rexroth drives and many third-party units with the right interface board. Integrated EMC filter saves an external box for conducted emissions compliance, as long as the drive side also meets its own EMC requirements. Natural convection cooling – no fan, no filter to clean. Keep the ambient below the motor's rated temperature if you plan to push it near continuous torque.
Ratings that drive the selection
The key torque numbers: nominal is 2.2 N·m at 230 V and 1.7 N·m at 115 V. Peak stall torque is 6.6 N·m at both voltages, which is almost three times continuous – good for accel/decel bursts but not for sustained load. The torque constant is 0.63 N·m/A at 20 °C, so peak current draw to get that 6.6 N·m peak would be around 10.5 A – which matches the listed peak output current. Back EMF constant is 42.1 V/krpm at 20°C. Nominal speed is 4000 rpm at 230 V single-phase. IP rating is split: shaft IP54, housing IP65. That means the housing is protected against water jets (washdown capable), but the shaft seal is only splash-proof – water directed at the shaft seal can enter. For food or washdown zones, add an external seal or mount the motor with shaft facing down.
Mounting and connection brief
Flange size is 70 mm (2.8 in), centring collar 60 mm diameter. Fits international standard flanges. Four mounting holes on a 5.5 mm diameter, spaced per the drawing. Shaft is keyed, diameter 11 mm, key width 4 mm. Overall length 268 mm. Connection is via a printed circuit board connector – not a flying lead or terminal box. Max radial force at shaft: 710 N at 1000 rpm down to 390 N at 6000 rpm. Axial force limit is 0.2 x Fr.
