The BMXSAI0410 is a 4-channel analog input module in the Modicon X80 platform, built to take 4-20 mA current signals from field transmitters. It's a high-speed, isolated card — conversion runs at 6 ms for all four channels, and each input is isolated from the others and from ground at 1500 V DC. That isolation kills ground-loop noise that can wander into a non-isolated card when you've got pumps on different transformers.
Accuracy is ≤0.3% of full scale from -25 to 60 °C. Temperature drift is 30 ppm/°C, and the module uses second-order digital filtering. Overload protection: inputs can survive a sustained 25 mA without damage. That matters when a loop gets mistakenly jumpered to a 24 V supply — this card won't blow its input resistor the way a cheaper one would. The 16-bit ADC gives you resolution down to 2 µA, which is plenty for picking up small process changes. Environmental rating is better than the typical PLC card: shock resistance 15 gn, vibration 3 gn, operating humidity up to 95% at 55 °C without condensation. It's rated for gas class 3C4, dust class 3S4, salt level 2, and mold/fungal spore resistance — handy if the cabinet is half a mile from a cooling tower or near a cement kiln.
Power, connection, and diagnostics
Power draw is modest — 200 mA at 3.3 V DC (from the backplane) plus 115 mA at 24 V DC for the loop side. Connector is a single 20-way plug, so pre-wiring the panel and swapping the card later is straightforward. Status LEDs: one green RUN, one red ERR, and one green per channel for diagnostics — you can see which loop is alive at a glance without opening the programming software. Input impedance is 286 Ohm, which means a standard 24 V loop can drive a 4-20 mA signal through a long cable drop without starving the card. Default digital scaling gives ±10000 counts over the range (user scale up to ±32000). No external recalibration needed — the module handles it internally.
