It is designed to IEC 60947-3, which covers the safety and performance requirements for switches, disconnectors, and switch-disconnectors in industrial applications. Rated operational current is 1000 A across the full AC-23A duty band from 220 V to 690 V AC at 50/60 Hz. AC-23A is the heavy-motor-load category — this switch handles frequent switching of motors, transformers, and other highly inductive loads without derating.
Fault-handling capability
Rated short-time withstand current (Icw) is 25 kA for 0.5 s, or 4 kA for 20 s — the switch holds its closed position through a fault long enough for an upstream breaker to clear. Short-circuit making capacity (Icm) is 52 kA at 690 V, meaning it can be closed onto an existing fault without welding or failing. This matters for lockout/tagout — you can verify the contacts are open without needing a voltmeter.
Drawout (withdrawable) mounting means the switch chassis slides into a fixed cradle — the arc chamber and main contacts stay with the moving part, while the power connections remain in the panel. This allows full isolation for maintenance or swap-out without disturbing the busbars. Connection pitch is 70 mm, with front-facing connections on both the line and load sides.
Production status is active (current) per the manufacturer. The ComPacT NS new generation is the current platform — no phase-out or last-time-buy window is in effect.
