80 A MCCB for distribution panels — what the ratings mean
It is designed for distribution applications in commercial and industrial panels, mounted on a backplate in either horizontal or vertical orientation. At the more common 415 V AC three-phase level it still holds 70 kA Icu, which covers most secondary distribution scenarios where the transformer is close to the panel. The TM-D trip unit provides thermal overload protection (L) and magnetic short-circuit protection (I). The magnetic trip threshold is fixed within the TM-D characteristic — no interchangeable trip units or electronic adjustments on this variant.
Front connections on both line and load sides simplify bus-bar and cable routing. The 35 mm connection pitch matches common distribution block spacing. IP40 enclosure protection and IK07 impact resistance are adequate for enclosed panel mounting; no washdown rating, so keep it inside the cabinet. Mechanical durability is 50,000 cycles, electrical durability varies by load — 30,000 cycles at rated current (80 A, 440 V) and 50,000 at half load.
The UL ratings are 85 kA Icu at 240 V AC, 65 kA at 480 V AC, and 10 kA at 600 V AC — useful when the same part number must serve both IEC and UL panel builds.
