Switch disconnector for distribution, 1250 A drawout frame
The C125S3WM is a Schneider Electric ComPacT NS new generation switch disconnector basic frame, 3-pole, drawout, manually operated, rated 1250 A in AC-23A duty across 220–690 V AC. That AC-23A rating covers switching of motor loads and other highly inductive loads — not just resistive — so it handles the inrush and make-break duty of downstream contactors and motor starters. The drawout (withdrawable) mounting means the moving portion can be racked out for safe maintenance without disturbing the fixed cradle connections — standard practice in switchgear where isolation and padlock-out are required.
Rated operational current (Ie) is 1250 A in AC-23A at all standard voltages from 220 V to 690 V AC — no derating curve to chase across the voltage band. Conventional free-air thermal current (Ith) is 1250 A at 60 °C, so the frame is sized for continuous full-load current in a typical enclosed switchboard. Short-time withstand (Icw) is 25 kA for 0.5 s, and short-circuit making capacity (Icm) is 52 kA at 690 V. These numbers govern selectivity coordination with upstream breakers: the 25 kA / 0.5 s withstand lets downstream protection clear a fault without the disconnector failing closed. Mechanical durability is 10,000 cycles; electrical durability is 2,000 cycles at 440 V. For a manually operated distribution disconnector that sees infrequent switching (isolation, not daily motor starting), that cycle life is ample — not a wear-item concern in normal service. IP40 enclosure protection keeps out tools and small solids; IK07 impact rating means it withstands a 0.5 J hammer blow — typical for indoor switchgear cubicles.
