It is a 4-pole unit with neutral fully protected (4D configuration), designed specifically for generator protection applications. The trip unit provides LI protection — thermal overload (L) with adjustable long-time pickup from 0.7 to 1 x In, and fixed magnetic short-circuit (I) pickup at 440 A.
The fixed instantaneous trip at 440 A (roughly 3.5 x In) means it clears hard shorts fast, but you lose the flexibility to dial that threshold up or down. For generator duty, the TM-G curve is shaped to coordinate with generator decrement curves and avoid tripping on inrush during load steps — a standard TM or Micrologic unit may not track the same thermal profile. The long-time delay is fixed at 120 to 400 s at 1.5 x In, which is a wide band but not field-adjustable — you get the factory-set characteristic. If your load profile needs a tighter or slower overload curve, you would need a Micrologic electronic trip unit instead. The 4D neutral protection means the neutral pole is fully rated and protected identically to the phase poles, essential for generator paralleling where neutral current can approach phase current.
The trip unit mounts fixed in the ComPacT NSX160 breaker — no drawer or plug-in base. IP40 front face protection keeps out tools and fingers but is not washdown-rated; keep it in a dry enclosure. Complies with EN/IEC 60947-2 for low-voltage switchgear and controlgear. Class II electrical shock protection — no earth connection required on the trip unit itself.
