DC-rated MCCB basic frame for 750 VDC distribution
The Schneider Electric C16S4D is a basic frame for the ComPacT NSX160S DC molded-case circuit breaker, rated 160 A at 40 °C with a 4-pole configuration. It delivers 100 kA Icu breaking capacity at 750 V DC (3P) per IEC 60947-2, making it suitable for high-fault DC distribution in industrial and utility-scale battery, solar, or traction systems. The frame ships without a trip unit — you select and install the appropriate electronic or thermal-magnetic trip module separately to match the downstream load and coordination requirements.
Breaking capacity and voltage ratings
The S breaking capacity code means 100 kA Icu across the full voltage range: 100 kA at 250 V DC (1P), 100 kA at 500 V DC (2P), and 100 kA at 750 V DC (3P). The Ics service breaking capacity matches the Icu at each voltage — 100 kA — so the breaker clears a fault and remains usable afterward without derating. Rated insulation voltage (Ui) and operational voltage (Ue) both sit at 750 V DC, with an impulse withstand (Uimp) of 8 kV. That puts this frame in the same class as the higher-current NSX250 DC frames for fault-clearing capability, but at a 160 A continuous rating for smaller feeders.
Physical integration and environment
Fixed-mount backplate installation with front-front connections (line and load both terminate on the front face). IP40 front-face protection and IK07 impact resistance suit enclosed panel mounting — not washdown environments.
