It is designed for motor protection duty, with tripping classes 20, 10, and 5 selectable via the trip unit. The electronic trip provides L (long-time), So (short-time with fixed delay), and I (instantaneous) protection curves tailored to motor starting profiles.

For a motor circuit, size the breaker to the motor FLA plus starting inrush; the MicroLogic 2.2 M's adjustable long-time pickup and delay let you coordinate with the motor thermal curve. Breaking capacity: 200 kA Icu at 415 V AC, 80 kA at 500 V, 65 kA at 525 V, 45 kA at 690 V. At 220–240 V it holds 200 kA.
