DC-rated power distribution breaker for PV and battery storage
Its 250 A thermal-magnetic trip unit (TM-DC) provides LI protection — thermal overload (L) and magnetic short-circuit (I) — for DC loads in solar photovoltaic arrays, battery energy storage systems, and DC bus distribution panels. Rated 10 kA Icu at 1000 V DC with four poles in series per EN/IEC 60947-2, this breaker is built for high-voltage DC isolation and fault interruption. The 4P (4D protected poles) configuration and suitability for isolation (yes per EN/IEC 60947-2) mean it can serve as a disconnecting means in DC circuits up to 1000 V.
For DC circuits, arc extinction is harder than AC; the series-pole arrangement doubles the contact gap, which is why the 4P frame is required for 1000 V DC operation. The 250 A continuous rating at 40 °C ambient is the thermal-magnetic trip unit's maximum uninterrupted current; expect some derating above 40 °C (the operating altitude derating curve from 2000 m to 5000 m is also specified). This LI protection profile is standard for distribution feeders where selective coordination with downstream devices is needed. The breaker is rated utilization category A, meaning it is not intended for frequent switching under load but for infrequent isolation and fault protection.
Mounting and integration in a DC panel
Dimensions are 255 mm high, 185 mm wide, 110 mm deep, with a 45 mm connection pitch. Front-facing connections (upside and downside) simplify busbar and cable routing in a panel. IP40 enclosure protection and IK07 impact resistance suit indoor distribution boards; pollution degree 3 and overvoltage category III per IEC 60664-1 mean it handles industrial environments with conductive pollution and transient overvoltages up to 4 kV.
