Motor protection breaker with 200 kA interrupting capacity
The C63R31M500 is a 3-pole ComPacT NSX circuit breaker in the NSX630R frame, fitted with a MicroLogic 1.3 M electronic trip unit rated 500 A at 65 °C. It is designed specifically for motor protection (device application: motor protection per), with the 1.3 M trip unit providing short-time (S) and instantaneous (I) short-circuit protection curves that coordinate with motor starting inrush. At 690 V AC it still holds 45 kA Icu. That SCCR headroom means this breaker can be applied upstream of motor starters or downstream of a transformer without worrying about cascading failure during a bolted fault. Built to EN/IEC 60947-2, suitability for isolation is confirmed.
Connection pitch is 45 mm. IP40 enclosure rating with IK07 impact protection is sufficient for indoor panel installation; not rated for washdown environments. Six accessory slots accept auxiliary contacts, shunt trips, or communication modules. Toggle control with a flashing green LED for ready-to-operate status.
Electrical durability and thermal management
Electrical durability: 8000 cycles at 440 V at half rated current, 4000 cycles at full rated current; 6000 cycles at 690 V at half current, 2000 cycles at full current. Mechanical durability is 15000 cycles. Power dissipation per pole is 25 W — at 500 A full load, three poles dissipate 75 W total, which must be considered in enclosure thermal calculations.
