Distribution-grade MCCB with thermal-magnetic trip
The Schneider Electric G12E3F20 is a GoPact MCCB 125 thermal-magnetic circuit breaker rated 20 A at 40 °C, with a breaking capacity of 15 kA at 380/415 V AC (performance level E). It is a 3-pole, fixed-mount device with a TM-D trip unit providing LI protection — thermal for overload (L) and magnetic for short-circuit (I). Rated operational voltage is 415 V AC at 50/60 Hz, with an insulation voltage of 440 V AC, both conforming to EN/IEC 60947-2. The utilisation category is A (no intentional short-time delay), making it suitable for distribution feeder protection rather than motor-starting duty.
Above 40 °C, derate per the IEC 60947-2 thermal curve — the spec gives the number at 40 °C, so a 50 °C panel environment reduces that figure. Power dissipation is 18.7 W per pole, so total 56.1 W at rated load. This heat must be considered in enclosure sizing, especially in a multi-breaker panel. The IP20 finger-safe terminals (screw-type, front-connected) are suitable for enclosed distribution boards but not for washdown environments.
Fixed-mount via backplate, accepting horizontal or vertical orientation. Connection pitch is 25 mm, screw terminals front-connected on both line and load sides. Pollution degree 3 (conductive pollution, typical of industrial panels) and overvoltage category III (distribution level) confirm it is designed for fixed-installation switchgear.
Compliance and approvals
Suitability for isolation is confirmed per EN/IEC 60947-2, meaning it provides visible isolation when in the OFF position. Ambient operating range is -20 to 55 °C; storage range -35 to 85 °C. Mechanical durability is 30,000 cycles, electrical durability 8,000 cycles at rated current and voltage.
