Motor circuit breaker for 4 A motor protection
The Schneider Electric GV2P08TQ is a TeSys GV2 motor circuit breaker rated at 4 A, designed for protecting motor circuits up to 1.1 kW at 400/415 V AC and 1.5 kW at 500 V AC. It uses a thermal-magnetic trip unit — the thermal element handles overloads, and the magnetic trip fixed at 74 A clears short circuits.
The 45 mm width and 89 mm height fit standard motor-starter footprints in a TeSys Deca lineup. IP20 finger-safe terminals keep live parts behind the enclosure — fine for a control cabinet but not for washdown environments. The rotary handle gives a clear on/off indication and can be padlocked in the off position for lockout-tagout.
Electrical ratings and duty
Rated for uninterrupted duty per IEC 60947-4-1, with a utilisation category of AC-3 for squirrel-cage motor starting and AC-3e for the enhanced electrical endurance rating. Electrical durability is 100,000 cycles at 415 V under AC-3 load — that covers a typical production line's switching life over several years. It also qualifies as a disconnecting means per IEC 60947-1, so it can serve as the local isolation point.
Power-circuit terminals are screw-clamp type accepting two conductors per pole: 1 to 6 mm² solid, 1.5 to 6 mm² flexible without ferrule, or 1 to 4 mm² flexible with ferrule. Tightening torque is 1.7 N.m.
