The Schneider Electric GV2RT063 is a TeSys Deca GV2 motor circuit breaker — a 3-pole thermal-magnetic device rated 1.6 A continuous, with an adjustable thermal protection range of 1...1.6 A. It's built to protect motor and transformer loads per IEC 60947-2 and IEC 60947-4-1, with a 100 kA interrupting capacity at 400 V AC that holds all the way to 690 V. The thermal-magnetic trip unit handles both overload (thermal) and short-circuit (magnetic) events. The magnetic trip is fixed at 33 A, so it rides through motor inrush without nuisance tripping but still clears a hard fault fast. Rated for AC-3 and AC-3e duty categories, meaning it's certified for switching squirrel-cage motors under load — the most common motor-starting regime in industrial panels.
Mounting and wiring — panel fit
At 45 mm wide and 89 mm tall, it fits standard motor-starter footprints in a control cabinet. The spring-cage terminals on the power circuit accept 1...6 mm² solid or 1.5...4 mm² flexible with ferrule — two conductors per terminal, so daisy-chaining the line side is straightforward. No screw torque to verify; the spring holds the conductor captive. Rated IP20 finger-safe on the front, IK04 impact resistance. The 78.5 mm depth leaves clearance behind a standard 100 mm deep enclosure door. Ambient operating range is -20 to 60 °C, storage -40 to 80 °C, with a fire-resistance rating of 960 °C per IEC 60695-2-11. Suitable for isolation per IEC 60947-1 — you can lock it off for downstream work.
Motor power coverage
At 1.6 A thermal setting, this breaker covers small motors: 0.37 kW at 400/415 V AC (high peak current motor protection), 0.55 kW at 500 V, and up to 1.1 kW at 690 V. For transformer protection, it covers 0.63 kVA at 400/415 V. The power dissipation per pole is 2.5 W — about 7.5 W total at full load, which matters for thermal rise in a densely packed DIN-rail row.
