Breaking capacity — what it takes to clear a fault
The GV4PE07N: At 240 V AC it breaks 100 kA — that's enough for most North American 480Y/277 panels without an upstream fuse. If you're working in a 660–690 V plant, the rating drops to 8 kA, so check your fault current before swapping one in. For UL panels: 65 kA at 240 V, 35 kA at 480Y/277.
What fits and where — field install notes
Three-pole, 155 mm tall, 81 mm wide, 116 mm deep — it'll fit most standard disconnects and motor starter layouts. IP40 enclosure, IK07 impact rating, so it's fine inside a panel but not outdoors or washdown zones. Terminals are EverLink screw type: top accepts 1.5–70 mm² solid (or 1.5–50 mm² flexible), bottom goes up to 95 mm² solid. Torque the line and load to 9 N·m (79.7 lbf·in) — use a torque screwdriver, not a gun. The control is a toggle; it's suitable for isolation per IEC 60947-1.
Listed to UL 60947-4-1 and CSA C22.2 No 60947-4-1, plus EN/IEC 60947-4-1 and 60947-2. That covers most industrial and commercial installations. Fire resistance tested at 960 °C. Continuous duty rated — no need to derate for continuous motor load.
