The MGP6304NAX is a 4-pole, 630 A switch disconnector from the PowerPact 4 range, designed for isolation duty in 400/630 A panelboards. Rated short-time withstand current (Icw) is 6000 A for 1 s and 3 s, with a short-circuit making capacity (Icm) of 8.5 kA peak. That Icw figure tells you the switch can hold closed under fault current long enough for an upstream breaker to clear — it's not a protective device itself, but it coordinates with one.
Backplate-mounted, 185 mm wide × 255 mm tall × 110 mm deep. Toggle control with a contact position indicator gives a clear visual of open/closed state — useful for a panel walk-down during lockout/tagout. The switch is Class II double-insulated, so no earth connection is required on the enclosure.
Durability and environmental limits
Mechanical durability is 15,000 cycles; electrical durability is 6000 cycles at 440 V at rated current, halved to 3000 cycles at 440 V at twice rated current. The utilisation category is AC-22A (switching resistive and mixed loads) and AC-23A (switching motor loads or highly inductive loads) — so it handles both panel feeder and motor disconnector duty within its rating.
