170 W continuous, 4000–9000 rpm — SH3 frame
The SH30401P0CA4000 is a Schneider Electric SH3 servo motor on a 40 mm flange with a single stack length. It delivers 170 W continuous output power on a three-phase 400 V or 480 V supply, and 80 W on 230 V single phase. Nominal speed hits 4000 rpm at 230 V single phase and steps up to 9000 rpm at 400 V or 480 V three phase. The maximum mechanical speed is 10000 rpm, giving headroom for short over-speed moves.
Torque, encoder, and feedback loop
Nominal torque is 0.19 N.m at 230 V single phase, dropping slightly to 0.18 N.m at 400 V and 0.175 N.m at 480 V three phase. Continuous stall torque is 0.21 N.m across the 115–480 V three-phase range, with a peak stall torque of 0.75 N.m for acceleration transients. The absolute single-turn Hiperface DSL encoder provides 32768 points per turn (15-bit resolution). This is a digital serial-link encoder — no separate battery backup for position retention within a single revolution, and the feedback runs over a two-wire DSL interface that also carries power. Torque constant is 0.19 N.m/A at 120 °C copper temperature; back EMF constant is 13.6 V/krpm at 20 °C. Stator resistance is 17.2 Ohm and inductance 14.6 mH — these set the electrical time constant and influence the servo loop tuning at higher speeds.
Mechanical fit and integration
The motor mounts on an international standard 40 mm flange with a 30 mm centring collar, 2.5 mm deep. Four mounting holes on a 46 mm PCD, each 4.5 mm diameter — standard bolt pattern for this frame size. IP65 on the motor body per IEC 60034-5; the shaft bushing without the seal ring drops to IP54. The electrical connection is a Quicklock rotatable right-angled M17 connector — the angle can be oriented after installation to route the cable cleanly in tight cabinets.
No holding brake — plan for external hold
This variant ships without a holding brake. For vertical-axis applications or any load that must hold position with power off, an external brake or a motor with the brake option is required. The smooth shaft also means no positive drive to a brake pulley — a coupling or shaft-mounted brake is the route.
