Fit for a 170 W axis with holding brake and Hiperface feedback
The SH30401P16F2100 is a 40 mm flange servo motor from the SH3 family, delivering 170 W continuous power and 0.176 N.m nominal torque at 115/230 V single-phase, stepping to 0.184 N.m at 400/480 V three-phase. Maximum mechanical speed is 9000 rpm; nominal speed is 4000 rpm on single-phase supply and 9000 rpm on three-phase. Feedback is an absolute single-turn SinCos Hiperface encoder — no homing cycle on power-up; the axis knows its position immediately. The rotatable right-angled connector lets the cable exit direction be adjusted in the field, helpful in tight cabinet layouts.
Speed-torque envelope and supply dependency
Nominal torque and speed shift with the supply voltage: at 115/230 V single-phase the motor delivers 0.176 N.m at 4000 rpm; at 400/480 V three-phase it delivers 0.184 N.m at 9000 rpm. Peak stall torque reaches 0.75 N.m at 480 V three-phase. Continuous stall torque is 0.21 N.m across the three-phase range, with a continuous stall current of 1.12 A. The torque constant is 0.19 N.m/A at 120 °C copper hot; back EMF constant is 13.6 V/krpm at 20 °C. Stator resistance is 17.2 Ω and inductance 14.6 mH. Maximum RMS current is 4.5 A, with a 3 s peak of 4.5 A — the peak current is not derated beyond the continuous limit, so the motor's overload capability is limited by the drive's peak current setting. Cooling is natural convection — no fan, so the motor relies on its own surface area and the machine frame for heat rejection. The IP65 rating on both the motor body and shaft bushing per IEC 60034-5 means it withstands washdown and wet environments, but the thermal budget must account for the still-air condition.
Mounting and mechanical interface
The motor uses an international standard flange with a 40 mm flange size. The centring collar is 30 mm diameter with a 2.5 mm depth. Four mounting holes of 4.5 mm diameter secure the motor — standard M4 or #8 bolts fit. Shaft diameter is 8 mm, shaft length 25 mm, with a parallel key of 3 mm width. The shaft end is parallel keyed — confirm the coupling or pulley bore matches 8 mm with a 3 mm keyway. Overall motor length is 99.4 mm, which defines the envelope behind the flange face.
