SH30402P1CA4000 in the cabinet — where this 40 mm servo sits
The SH30402P1CA4000 is a Schneider Electric SH3 series servo motor (sizing reference SH30402P), built as the compact low-inertia end of the Lexium/SerMov-compatible drive family for short-cycle point-to-point moves on packaging, labelling and small-format pick-and-place cells where a 0.37 Nm continuous torque and 290 W continuous power rating are sufficient.
Speed and torque envelope across the supply
Nominal torque is 0.37 Nm on 230 V single-phase and 0.31 Nm on 400 V or 480 V three-phase; nominal speed tracks the same way — 4000 rpm at 230 V versus 9000 rpm at 400/480 V — so the same motor winding delivers different mechanical output depending on which drive rail feeds it. Nominal output power is 152 W at 230 V single-phase and 292 W at 400/480 V three-phase. Continuous stall torque is 0.39 Nm from 115 V up to 480 V three-phase with a continuous stall current of 1.5 A; peak stall torque reaches 1.5 Nm at 480 V three-phase, which gives roughly 4× the continuous figure for the acceleration pulse that gets a horizontal conveyor or rotary table up to speed. Maximum mechanical speed is 10000 rpm, so any application profile above that is outside the rotor envelope.
Feedback, connector and shaft-side sealing
Position feedback is an absolute single-turn Hiperface DSL encoder at 32768 points/turn — a single-cable digital link that returns absolute position without a battery back-up and consolidates power and data on one cable to the drive, simplifying cabinet routing. The motor-side electrical connection is a rotatable right-angled quicklock connector, so the lead exit direction can be set after the motor is bolted down without rotating the housing. IP65 on the motor body and IP54 on the shaft bushing without a shaft seal ring — the rating covers water-jet washdown on a food-grade conveyor but the shaft entry is the weak point if the line runs in a wet zone with no seal ring fitted. Centring collar is 30 mm diameter by 2.5 mm deep, mounting holes are 4 × 4.5 mm on the standard 40 mm flange. No holding brake is fitted on this build (SH30402P1CA4000). For a vertical-axis or suspended load, that rules the motor out unless an external safety brake is added in the drivetrain — for horizontal rotary tables and belt-driven conveyors it is the usual choice.
Rotor and thermal headroom
Cooling is natural convection only, with a copper-hot winding ceiling of 130 °C; the continuous stall current of 1.5 A is the limit the drive should hold indefinitely without pushing the winding into thermal trip.
