SH3 servo motor — 55 mm flange, Hiperface DSL feedback, holding brake
Schneider Electric SH30552P0BF4000 is a brushless AC servo motor from the SH3 line, with a 55 mm international-standard flange, smooth 9 mm shaft, and an integrated holding brake; feedback is an absolute multiturn Hiperface DSL encoder (cites:,). Hiperface DSL is a single-cable digital protocol — the encoder rides on the power cable rather than needing a separate feedback line, which simplifies cabinet routing on a high-pole-count servo and keeps the panel-side terminations to one quicklock connector (cites:,).
Torque, speed and power envelope
Continuous mechanical output is 530 W at 400 V three-phase and 480 V three-phase, dropping to 280 W at 230 V single phase — the three-phase rails are where the motor earns its nominal rating, and the single-phase rating exists for installations where only 230 V is available (cites:,). Nominal torque is 0.75 N.m at 230 V single phase, 0.63 N.m at 400 V three phase and 0.63 N.m at 480 V three phase; peak stall torque reaches 2.5 N.m across 115 to 480 V three phase for short transient acceleration pulses (cites:,). Nominal speed scales with the supply: 4000 rpm at 230 V single phase, 8000 rpm at 400 V three phase, 9000 rpm at 480 V three phase, with a maximum mechanical speed ceiling of 9000 rpm and continuous stall current of 1.2 A — the drive must be configured to honour the field-weakening boundary above 8000 rpm (cites:,). Holding brake is rated 0.8 N.m with 10 W pull-in power, suitable for vertical-axis parking and controlled E-stop holds without oversizing the drive's brake output stage (cites:,).
Electrical constants for the velocity loop
Torque constant is 0.59 N.m/A at 120 °C winding temperature and back-EMF constant 40 V/krpm at 20 °C, which together let the drive's current loop resolve torque demand directly from the Iq command without thermal compensation drift across the working range (cites:,). Stator resistance 17.4 Ohm and stator inductance 18.2 mH define the electrical time constant — a relatively high-resistance, moderate-inductance winding means the current loop settles quickly and the drive can push the velocity-loop bandwidth without fighting sluggish field build-up (cites:,).
Mounting, environment and connector
Mounting is via an international-standard flange with 5.5 mm bolt holes, a 40 mm centring collar 2 mm deep, and a smooth 20 mm shaft — the standard flange pattern drops straight onto the typical 55 mm gearbox input or machine-side adapter without a custom bracket (cites:,). Environmental rating is IP65 on the motor body and IP54 at the shaft bushing without a shaft seal ring, per IEC 60034-5 — the housing tolerates washdown and dust-laden cabinet environments, but the shaft exit is the weak point and a seal ring is the right choice for wet-side food-and-bev or outdoor mounting (cites:). Cooling is natural convection only, so the motor needs clearance around the body and cannot be shrouded against a heat-sunk structure; maximum axial force is 40 N and maximum radial force is 190 N at 8000 rpm, which sets the coupling selection and any belt-drive geometry (cites:,). Electrical connection is a right-angled rotatable quicklock connector — rotating the head lets the cable exit in any of four directions, which simplifies routing in shallow cabinets where the bend radius would otherwise fight a fixed orientation (cites:).
