Three-phase SH3 with holding brake — 640 W continuous, IP65 sealed
The SH30702M12F1100 is a three-phase servo motor from the SH3 family, delivering 640 W continuous power with natural convection cooling — no external fan needed, which simplifies cabling and reduces failure points in the cell. It carries a holding brake rated at 3 N.m (26.6 lbf.in), holding the load on power-down without a separate mechanical lock. The nominal torque varies by supply: 2.2 N.m at 115 V single-phase, 2.15 N.m at 230 V single-phase, and 2.03 N.m at 400 V or 480 V three-phase. The IP65 rating applies to both the motor body and the shaft bushing per IEC 60034-5 — the motor withstands washdown, but the rotatable right-angled or straight connector must be fully mated to preserve the seal.
Speed range and feedback — matching the drive and the cycle
Nominal speed depends on the supply: 750 rpm at 115 V single-phase, 1500 rpm at 230 V single-phase, 3000 rpm at 400 V three-phase, and 3600 rpm at 480 V three-phase. Maximum mechanical speed is 8000 rpm — the winding configuration, not the bearings, sets the ceiling. The absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface encoder provides position feedback on power-up without a homing cycle — critical for applications where the axis must resume from the last known position after a power loss. The drive must support the Hiperface protocol; verify compatibility with the Lexium or third-party drive before committing the BOM.
Mounting and mechanical interface — 70 mm flange, parallel key shaft
The motor mounts on an international standard flange with a 70 mm (2.8 in) flange size and a 60 mm centring collar. Four mounting holes at 5.5 mm diameter on the flange face — the bolt pattern matches standard 70 mm frame servo mounts. The shaft is 11 mm diameter with a parallel key, 23 mm shaft length, and 4 mm key width. Maximum radial force is 710 N at 1000 rpm, derating to 390 N at 6000 rpm. Maximum axial force is 80 N — the bearing set is sized for belt-drive loads, not direct axial thrust. Overall length is 212.5 mm (8.4 in). The electrical connection uses a rotatable right-angled connector or a straight connector — the rotatable version helps route the power/feedback cable in tight cabinets without bending the cable below its minimum radius.
Electrical parameters — stall current, inductance, and drive sizing
Continuous stall current is 1.5 A, while the maximum current (Irms) is 6 A — the drive must supply the 4× peak for acceleration transients. Stator resistance is 16.4 Ω and inductance is 115.7 mH, giving a relatively high electrical time constant that influences current-loop tuning. Peak stall torque reaches 7.6 N.m (67.3 lbf.in) across the 115–480 V three-phase range — this is the torque available for short-duration acceleration. Continuous stall torque is 2.04 N.m (18.06 lbf.in) across the same voltage range. The motor has 3 pole pairs. Temperature class is 130 °C (266 °F) copper hot — the winding insulation class F or B is implied by the 130 °C limit, but the natural convection cooling means the drive's current limit must respect the thermal model to avoid demagnetisation at low speed.
Lifecycle and sourcing — current production, quoted to order
Sourced through independent distribution against an RFQ. The sizing reference is SH30702M, which is the base motor variant without connector or brake options.
