Motor specs that decide the fit
The SH30703M11F2100 is a three-phase servo motor from Schneider Electric's SH3 series, delivering 830 W continuous power. The phase requirement is the first gate — this is a three-phase-only motor, so a single-phase supply won't run it without a VFD that generates three-phase output. Speed and torque change with the supply voltage. At 400 V three-phase, nominal speed is 3000 rpm with 2.63 N.m nominal torque; at 480 V three-phase, it runs 3600 rpm with the same 2.63 N.m torque. The nominal output power at those voltages is 880 W and 1030 W respectively — the 830 W continuous rating is the thermal limit, not the peak output. The holding brake delivers 3 N.m holding torque, which holds the load at standstill without power to the motor windings. This is the spec that matters for vertical-axis applications or any position-hold scenario where the load must not drift when the drive is disabled.
Encoder and feedback — what the Hiperface means
The encoder is an absolute single-turn SinCos Hiperface type. Single-turn means it tracks position within one revolution — it knows exactly where the shaft is on power-up without a homing move, as long as the load hasn't been rotated more than one turn while powered off. The SinCos analog track gives high-resolution interpolation, and the Hiperface protocol is a common standard that mates with Schneider drives and many third-party servo drives that support the interface. The back EMF constant is 95 V/krpm at 20 °C. This sets the voltage the motor generates when spun by the load — important to check that the drive's DC bus can absorb regeneration without overvoltage tripping on fast decels.
Physical mounting and environment
The motor flange is 70 mm with a 60 mm centring collar that's 2.5 mm deep — this is the locating surface that aligns the motor to the machine frame. Four mounting holes at 5.5 mm diameter on the flange face. Overall length is 254 mm from the mounting face to the rear of the housing. IP65 rating on both the motor body and the shaft bushing means it's sealed against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets. That's suitable for washdown environments like food processing or packaging lines where the motor gets sprayed down. The connector is a straight or rotatable right-angled type — the rotatable option helps route the cable in tight enclosures. Cooling is natural convection — no external fan. The continuous torque rating assumes free air movement around the motor body; if it's mounted in a confined space or against a heat source, the continuous stall current of 2.1 A and the 130 °C copper temperature limit define the safe operating envelope.
