830 W servo with holding brake and absolute feedback
The SH30703M12F1100 is a Schneider Electric SH3 series servo motor with an integrated holding brake, delivering 830 W continuous power from a 70 mm flange frame. It's built for three-phase supplies and carries an absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface encoder — the feedback type that retains position through a power cycle without a home-search routine. The holding brake holds 3 N·m (26.6 lbf·in) at rest, which means the vertical axis stays put when the drive is disabled — no mechanical Z-axis lock required for most pick-and-place or gantry applications.
Speed and torque across supply voltages
Nominal speed depends on the supply: 750 rpm on 115 V single-phase, 1500 rpm on 230 V single-phase, 3000 rpm on 400 V three-phase, and 3600 rpm on 480 V three-phase. The nominal torque drops slightly at higher voltages — from 3.05 N·m at 115 V single-phase to 2.63 N·m at 400 V or 480 V three-phase — so the application's speed-torque curve needs to match the actual line voltage feeding the drive. Peak stall torque reaches 11.3 N·m (100 lbf·in) across the 115–480 V three-phase range, giving a 3.7× overload margin above the continuous stall torque of 2.94 N·m. That headroom handles acceleration transients and short-duration load spikes without tripping the drive's current limit. Maximum mechanical speed is 8000 rpm, well above the nominal speed at any voltage — the rotor and bearings are specced for the overspeed margin, but the drive's velocity loop and the encoder's bandwidth set the practical ceiling.
Encoder, cooling, and environmental sealing
The absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface encoder outputs sine/cosine analog signals plus a digital commutation track — compatible with Schneider's Lexium drives and any third-party drive that supports the Hiperface protocol. Multiturn means the encoder counts shaft revolutions beyond one turn, so absolute position is known even after a multi-revolution move. Cooling is by natural convection — no external fan or forced air required. The IP65 rating applies to both the motor body and the shaft bushing per IEC 60034-5, so the motor tolerates washdown and airborne particulates in food, packaging, or woodworking environments. Electrical connection uses a rotatable right-angled connector or a straight connector — the cable exit can be oriented to fit tight cable-tray routing without adding a separate junction box.
