Motor ratings that drive the sizing decision
The SH31001M12A1200 is a Schneider Electric SH3 series servo motor delivering 660 W continuous power. Its nominal torque and speed shift with the supply: at 400 V three-phase it produces 2.52 N.m at 2500 rpm, and at 480 V three-phase the same torque holds at 3000 rpm. On single-phase 230 V it drops to 2.71 N.m at 1250 rpm, and on 115 V single-phase to 2.8 N.m at 625 rpm — so the application voltage directly sets the usable speed-torque envelope. Peak stall torque reaches 9.6 N.m across the 115–480 V three-phase range, with a continuous stall torque of 2.94 N.m at 1.8 A continuous stall current. The maximum current Irms is 6.3 A, and the torque constant is 1.63 N.m/A at 120 °C copper temperature. These numbers define the acceleration ceiling and the thermal limit for continuous duty cycles.
Encoder, feedback, and connection details
This motor carries an absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface encoder — the Hiperface protocol gives single-cable feedback for position and speed, with multiturn counts surviving power loss. The back EMF constant is 115 V/krpm at 20 °C, which sets the voltage the drive sees at speed. Electrical connection is via a rotatable right-angled connector or a straight connector — both options are listed, so the cable exit direction can be oriented to fit the cable tray or drag chain path. The motor is cooled by natural convection, so no forced-air clearance is needed around the housing.
Mechanical interface and environmental sealing
The motor flange is 100 mm (3.9 in) with an international standard flange pattern, centring collar diameter 95 mm and depth 3.5 mm, and four mounting holes at 9.0 mm diameter. The shaft is 19 mm diameter, 40 mm length, with a parallel key (6 mm key width) — a standard NEMA/metric interface for coupling to leadscrews, pulleys, or gearboxes.
