Voltage-dependent speed and torque — sizing across supply conditions
The SH31001M12A2000 is a three-phase servo motor that also runs on single-phase supplies, with nominal speed and output power scaling with the input voltage. At 115 V single-phase, nominal speed is 625 rpm and output power is 210 W; at 230 V single-phase, 1250 rpm and 410 W; at 400 V three-phase, 2500 rpm and 790 W; at 480 V three-phase, 3000 rpm and 930 W. Nominal torque stays nearly flat across all supply conditions — 2.52 to 2.8 N.m — so the motor delivers consistent load capability regardless of the voltage available. Continuous stall torque is 2.94 N.m across the full voltage range, and peak stall torque reaches 9.6 N.m for short-term acceleration or overload events. Continuous power is 660 W, which is the thermal design point for natural convection cooling — no fan, so the motor relies on free airflow around the flange and body for heat rejection.
Encoder feedback and position retention
The absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface encoder retains position through power cycles — no homing sequence needed on restart. This is critical for applications where the axis must resume operation without a reference move, such as pick-and-place or gantry systems. The motor has no holding brake. In vertical-axis or gravity-loaded applications, an external brake or a drive with a holding brake output must be added to prevent axis drift when power is removed.
Mounting, cooling, and environmental protection
The motor uses an international standard flange with a 100 mm (3.9 in) flange size, a 95 mm centring collar, and four 9 mm mounting holes on a standard bolt circle. The shaft is 19 mm diameter with a parallel key, 40 mm shaft length, and a 6 mm key width. IP protection depends on the shaft seal configuration: IP54 at the shaft bushing without a seal ring, or IP65 with a shaft seal ring fitted. The motor body is IP65-rated per IEC 60034-5. In washdown or wet environments, specify the shaft seal option. Natural convection cooling means no fan noise and no fan maintenance, but the motor must be mounted with free air circulation around the finned body. Derate if enclosed in a tight cabinet or if ambient temperature exceeds the 130 °C copper hot-spot limit. The electrical connection is a rotatable right-angled connector — the cable exit angle can be adjusted in the field to suit the cable routing, which simplifies installation in tight panels or moving cable tracks.
The motor is part of the SH3 series (sizing reference SH31001M), which covers a range of flange sizes and power ratings. No pin-compatible alternative or direct successor is listed; the SH31001M12A2000 is the specific variant with the 100 mm flange, 660 W continuous rating, and Hiperface encoder.
