Torque and speed depend on your supply voltage
The SH31002M02A1200: This SH3 servo motor delivers 5.62 Nm nominal torque at 400 V three-phase, but the same motor on a 480 V three-phase line holds 5.28 Nm at 2400 rpm — the torque drops slightly while the speed ceiling rises. On single-phase 230 V you get 5.5 Nm at 1000 rpm; on 115 V single-phase it's 5.62 Nm at 500 rpm. The continuous power rating is 1100 W, but nominal output power ranges from 300 W on 115 V single-phase up to 1280 W on 480 V three-phase. That means the same motor frame covers a wide voltage range — the drive parameters and the supply voltage determine what you actually get at the shaft.
Encoder and feedback — absolute position without a home cycle
The absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface encoder gives position feedback over multiple shaft revolutions without needing a homing routine on power-up — the drive reads the absolute position from the encoder. This saves cycle time on machines that power-cycle between shifts. The encoder type also determines which servo drives are compatible; Hiperface is a common open standard, but confirm the drive's encoder interface supports SinCos multiturn before wiring.
IP rating and cooling — washdown capable, convection cooled
The motor body is IP65, the housing is IP67, and the shaft bushing is IP65 — all per IEC 60034-5. That means the motor withstands hose-down cleaning in food or beverage lines, but the shaft bushing seal is the weak point; if washdown is aggressive and direct, check the bushing condition regularly. Cooling is natural convection — no fan, so the motor relies on its surface area and the machine frame to shed heat. In a confined enclosure or at continuous peak torque, expect the housing to run hot; the copper temperature limit is 130 °C.
