Motor ratings that govern the drive selection
The SH31003M01A1000 delivers 1500 W continuous power with a nominal torque of 7.8 N.m when supplied from a 400 V three-phase line, dropping to 7.0 N.m at 400 V three-phase and 6.76 N.m at 480 V three-phase. The peak stall torque reaches 28.3 N.m across the 115...480 V three-phase range, giving a 3.6× overload margin for acceleration and transient loads. Nominal speed varies with the supply: 500 rpm at 115 V single phase, 1000 rpm at 230 V single phase, 2000 rpm at 400 V three phase, and 2400 rpm at 480 V three phase. The motor has 4 poles and a back EMF constant of 148 V/krpm at 20°C, which sets the voltage ceiling at high speed — the drive bus voltage must exceed the back EMF plus IR drop to maintain current regulation. Continuous stall current is 3.4 A, while the maximum continuous current (Irms) is 14.7 A — the drive must be sized to supply this peak current for the application's duty cycle. The torque constant of 2.35 N.m/A at 120°C copper hot defines the current-to-torque gain for servo loop tuning.
Encoder feedback and mechanical interface
The motor is equipped with an absolute single-turn SinCos Hiperface encoder, which provides position feedback at power-up without requiring a homing cycle — critical for applications where the axis position must be known immediately after a power cycle. The encoder type is a single-turn, so the absolute position range is one mechanical revolution. The shaft is a smooth shaft (no keyway) with a diameter of 19 mm and a shaft length of 40 mm. The motor flange size is 100 mm with a centring collar diameter of 95 mm and a centring collar depth of 3.5 mm, conforming to the international standard flange mounting. Four mounting holes at 9.0 mm diameter on the flange face secure the motor. This variant ships without a holding brake — the application must provide external braking or rely on the drive's holding torque at standstill. The electrical connection uses a straight connector, and the overall motor length is 240.5 mm.
Environmental sealing and thermal limits
The IP protection rating depends on the shaft seal configuration: IP54 with a shaft bushing without shaft seal ring, or IP65 for the motor body and IP65 for the shaft bushing when the seal ring is fitted, per IEC 60034-5. In a washdown or dust-prone environment, the shaft seal ring is required to maintain IP65 at the shaft exit. Cooling is by natural convection only — no forced ventilation or liquid cooling. The maximum copper hot temperature is 130°C. In high-torque or low-speed applications where natural convection is reduced, the duty cycle must be derated to stay within the thermal limit. Maximum radial force at the shaft is 1050 N at 1000 rpm, decreasing to 660 N at 4000 rpm. Maximum axial force is 160 N. These limits govern belt-drive and overhung load applications — exceeding them risks bearing damage.
The motor is part of the SH3 series (device short name SH3), with the sizing reference SH31003M.
