Motor and brake ratings — what they mean for a machine axis
The SH31004P01F1100 is a three-phase servo motor from the SH3 series, sized for continuous output of 2500 W. The holding brake delivers 12 N.m (106.2 lbf.in) — enough to hold a vertical load on a gantry or tool changer without a counterbalance when power is removed. Nominal torque depends on the supply voltage: 9.9 N.m at 115 V single-phase, 9.5 N.m at 230 V single-phase, 7.9 N.m at 400 V three-phase, and 6.9 N.m at 480 V three-phase. Peak stall torque is 40.5 N.m across the three-phase range — useful for acceleration bursts during rapid moves. Speed range and cooling — integration constraints
Speed is voltage-dependent: 750 rpm at 115 V single-phase, 1500 rpm at 230 V single-phase, 3000 rpm at 400 V three-phase, and 3600 rpm at 480 V three-phase. The motor uses natural convection cooling — no fan, so the mounting location must allow free airflow around the housing; enclosing it in a sealed cabinet without ventilation will reduce the continuous torque capability. The IP65 rating applies to both the motor body and the shaft bushing, so the motor withstands washdown and wet environments — suitable for food processing or outdoor machine tools. The rotatable right-angled connector and straight connector give flexibility in cable exit direction to fit tight cable trays.
