Motor ratings that govern the drive match
The SH31004P02A1000: This SH3 frame servo is a three-phase, 4-pole machine with a 100 mm flange (type IM B5 per IEC 60034-7). The continuous power rating is 2500 W, but the torque and speed you actually get depend on the supply voltage feeding the drive. At 400 V three-phase, nominal torque is 7.9 Nm at 3000 rpm; at 480 V three-phase, torque drops to 6.9 Nm but speed rises to 3600 rpm. The continuous stall torque across the three-phase range is 10 Nm, pulled at 6.2 A continuous stall current. Peak stall torque hits 40.5 Nm at 32.3 A peak (3 s rating) — this is the figure for sizing acceleration and emergency stop torque, not the continuous duty point.
Encoder feedback and connection
The feedback device is an absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface encoder — this gives position and speed data over a serial link plus analog sin/cos tracks for high-resolution interpolation. No battery-backed multiturn count; the absolute position is retained across power cycles. Electrical connection uses a rotatable right-angled connector or a straight connector — both are field-configurable for cable exit direction. The shaft end is smooth (no keyway), 24 mm diameter, 50 mm shaft length.
Cooling, sealing, and mounting constraints
Cooling is natural convection — no external fan or forced air. The motor relies on its own surface area and the mounting flange for heat dissipation; derate if enclosed in a non-ventilated cavity. IP rating is split: IP54 at the shaft bushing without the shaft seal ring, IP65 for the motor body and IP65 for the shaft bushing when the seal ring is fitted (per IEC 60034-5). For washdown or wet environments, specify the shaft seal ring option. Mounting uses an international standard flange (IM B5) with a 95 mm centring collar and 9 mm mounting holes. Maximum radial force at the shaft is 1070 N at 1000 rpm, dropping to 740 N at 3000 rpm. Maximum axial force is 160 N.
Electrical parameters for drive tuning
Stator resistance is 1.81 Ω, stator inductance 18.35 mH — these set the electrical time constant and influence the current regulator tuning in the servo drive. The torque constant is 1.62 Nm/A at 120 °C copper temperature; the back EMF constant is 103 V/krpm at 20 °C.
