Torque and speed across the voltage range
The SH31004P11F2200: This SH3 servo motor delivers 9.9 N·m nominal torque at 115 V single-phase, 7.9 N·m at 400 V three-phase, and 6.9 N·m at 480 V three-phase — the torque curve drops as line voltage rises because the constant-power region shifts. Peak stall torque is 40.5 N·m across the 115–480 V three-phase range, so the motor can handle short-duration overloads for acceleration or tight moves. Nominal speed is voltage-dependent: 750 rpm at 115 V single-phase, 1500 rpm at 230 V single-phase, 3000 rpm at 400 V three-phase, and 3600 rpm at 480 V three-phase. The 4-pole design keeps the base speed low enough for direct-drive applications without a gearbox on many indexing or conveyor axes.
Encoder, brake, and feedback integrity
The absolute single-turn SinCos Hiperface encoder gives position feedback on power-up without a homing cycle — critical for applications where the axis must know its location immediately after a power loss or emergency stop. Single-turn means the absolute range is one mechanical revolution; multi-turn applications need a different encoder option.
Thermal limits and cooling reality
Cooling is natural convection — no fan, so the motor relies on its own surface area and the mounting flange to shed heat. The copper winding hot-spot temperature is rated at 130 °C, and the continuous stall torque is 10 N·m across the 115–480 V three-phase range. In a confined cabinet or high-ambient environment, derate the continuous torque or add forced airflow over the housing. The stator resistance is 1.81 Ω and inductance is 18.35 mH — these values set the I²R losses and the current ripple at the drive's PWM frequency. The maximum continuous RMS current is 32.3 A, and the 3-second peak current is also 32.3 A, meaning the peak-to-continuous ratio is 1:1 — this motor is wound for continuous duty, not short-burst high-torque cycles.
Mechanical fit and mounting constraints
The motor flange is 100 mm (3.9 in) with a centring collar depth of 3.5 mm. Four mounting holes on a 9.0 mm diameter bolt circle — standard international flange pattern. The shaft is 24 mm diameter with a parallel key, key width 8 mm, and shaft length 50 mm. Overall body length is 307.5 mm (12.1 in) — measure the available envelope before committing. The electrical connection uses a rotatable right-angled connector — this lets you orient the cable exit in tight panels without adding a separate right-angle adapter. The IP rating is IP65 on the motor body and shaft bushing, and IP67 on the housing per IEC 60034-5, so it withstands washdown and dust ingress as long as the connector is properly mated.
Bearing load limits for direct-coupled loads
Maximum radial force Fr is 1070 N at 1000 rpm, dropping to 850 N at 2000 rpm, and 740 N at 3000 rpm — the bearing life is speed-dependent, so a belt-drive or overhung load at higher speeds must stay under the lower limit. Maximum axial force Fa is 160 N — suitable for direct coupling but not for thrust loads from a helical gear or lead screw without an external thrust bearing.
