Supply voltage and torque delivery
The SH31004P12A1200 is a three-phase servo motor from the SH3 series, but its torque and speed profile shifts depending on the supply configuration. At 400 V three-phase, nominal speed reaches 3000 rpm with 7.9 N.m nominal torque; at 480 V three-phase, speed climbs to 3600 rpm with 6.9 N.m. On single-phase 230 V, the motor delivers 1500 rpm and 9.5 N.m — useful for lower-voltage installations where three-phase isn't available. Continuous power is rated at 2500 W, with nominal output power varying from 780 W (115 V single-phase) up to 2600 W (480 V three-phase). The continuous stall torque holds at 10 N.m across the 115...480 V three-phase range, giving a consistent starting torque regardless of line voltage.
Encoder feedback and environmental sealing
An absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface encoder provides position feedback without needing a home cycle on power-up — the motor knows its shaft position after any power loss. This encoder type is common in Schneider's Lexium drive ecosystem and simplifies commissioning on multi-axis lines. The motor carries IP65 on the body and shaft bushing, with IP67 on the housing per IEC 60034-5. That means it handles washdown and dust ingress on food-processing or packaging lines where hoses are routine. Natural convection cooling keeps the design simple — no fan to clog or fail.
Sizing the drive and mechanical interface
Maximum current is 32.3 A RMS, with a 3-second peak of the same value — this sets the drive's continuous and peak current rating. Stator resistance is 1.81 Ohm and inductance 18.35 mH, which affects the drive's current-loop tuning and switching-frequency selection.
