Three-phase 4-pole servo with brake — drive pairing and speed range
The SH31004P12F1200 is a three-phase, 4-pole servo motor from the SH3 series, rated 2500 W continuous power with natural convection cooling. The nominal speed depends on the supply voltage: 750 rpm at 115 V single-phase, 1500 rpm at 230 V single-phase, 3000 rpm at 400 V three-phase, and 3600 rpm at 480 V three-phase. The drive must be selected to match the target speed range and supply configuration. The holding brake delivers 12 N.m holding torque — enough to keep the load stationary when the drive is off. The brake is separate from the motor's electromagnetic torque; the continuous stall torque is 10 N.m across the 115–480 V three-phase range, and the peak stall torque reaches 40.5 N.m at 32.3 A peak current. The drive must supply that peak current for acceleration without tripping.
Absolute multiturn Hiperface encoder — feedback protocol match
The encoder is an absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface type. This means the drive controller must support the Hiperface protocol to read position and speed feedback. The multiturn resolution tracks absolute position over multiple shaft revolutions, so the system does not need a homing cycle after power loss — useful for applications where the load position must be known immediately on restart. The torque constant is 1.62 N.m/A at 120 °C copper temperature, and the back EMF constant is 103 V/krpm at 20 °C. These values set the current-to-torque relationship and the voltage feedback the drive sees at speed — important for tuning the current loop and setting the velocity limit.
IP65/IP67 sealing — washdown and environmental fit
The motor body carries IP65 protection per IEC 60034-5, the shaft bushing is also IP65, and the housing is IP67. This means the motor withstands hose-directed water and temporary immersion — suitable for food processing, washdown, or outdoor installations where moisture ingress is a risk. The shaft bushing seal is the critical wear point; inspect it periodically in high-pressure washdown environments. The electrical connection uses a straight connector — no right-angle adapter, so plan for cable exit clearance. The motor flange is the international standard 100 mm size with a 3.5 mm centring collar depth and 9.0 mm mounting holes. The shaft is 24 mm diameter with a parallel key and 50 mm shaft length.
