5.5 kW servo with voltage-dependent speed and torque
The SH32051P02A2200 is a three-phase servo motor rated for 5.5 kW continuous output power at 400 V three-phase supply, but it also runs on single-phase inputs at reduced ratings — 2510 W at 115 V single phase and 4240 W at 230 V single phase. Nominal speed shifts with the supply voltage: 750 rpm at 115 V single phase, 1500 rpm at 230 V single phase, 3000 rpm at 400 V three phase, and 3600 rpm at 480 V three phase. Torque follows the same pattern — 282.3 lbf.in (31.9 N.m) at 115 V dropping to 122.1 lbf.in (13.8 N.m) at 480 V. The motor uses a smooth shaft (no keyway) with a 1.5 in (38 mm) diameter and 3.1 in (80 mm) shaft length, so the coupling or pulley must use a clamping or friction-fit method — no keyseat to transmit torque.
Absolute Hiperface encoder for position-critical axes
The built-in absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface encoder gives you high-resolution position feedback without needing a home cycle on power-up — the drive reads the absolute position from the encoder's multiturn count. This matters for applications like gantry axes or rotary tables where losing position on a power cycle means a re-reference move that costs cycle time. The encoder type is specified as 'Absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface' — that's a standard industrial protocol, so it pairs with most servo drives that support Hiperface (Siemens S120, Bosch Rexroth IndraDrive, Kollmorgen AKD, etc.). Confirm the drive's encoder interface supports SinCos Hiperface before wiring. Electrical connection uses a rotatable right-angled connector — gives you some flexibility in cable routing inside the cabinet or cable track, but the connector orientation must be set before final tightening.
IP65/IP67 sealing and natural convection cooling
The motor body and shaft bushing meet IP65 per IEC 60034-5, and the housing meets IP67 — so the motor withstands washdown with low-pressure jets and temporary immersion. That makes it a fit for food-and-beverage packaging lines or machining centers where coolant spray is constant. Cooling is by natural convection — no external fan or forced air. That means the motor relies on its own surface area and the surrounding airflow to shed heat. In a confined cabinet or high-ambient environment, you'll need to check the thermal duty cycle against the continuous stall torque rating of 326.6 lbf.in (36.9 N.m).
