Phase and supply voltage — the fit constraint
The SH32051P12A2000: This is a three-phase servo motor. The nominal speed shifts with the supply voltage: 750 rpm at 115 V single-phase, 1500 rpm at 230 V single-phase, 3000 rpm at 400 V three-phase, and 3600 rpm at 480 V three-phase. For a 400 V three-phase line — the most common industrial supply — the motor delivers 5.5 kW continuous power and 17.5 N.m nominal torque. If your drive output is 480 V, expect 5.2 kW and 13.8 N.m instead.
Current and overload — drive sizing anchor
The continuous current rating is 87.2 A RMS. The 3-second peak current is also 87.2 A — meaning there is no short-term overload headroom above the continuous rating. The drive must be sized to supply 87.2 A continuously; any overload requirement beyond that needs a larger motor frame. The torque constant is 1.75 N.m/A at 120°C copper temperature, so the continuous stall torque of 36.9 N.m aligns with the 87.2 A limit.
Feedback and connection — drive compatibility
The encoder is an absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface type. Hiperface is a specific protocol combining incremental SinCos tracks with a serial absolute position interface — not generic SinCos. The drive must support Hiperface; if it expects EnDat, BISS, or resolver, this motor will not communicate. Electrical connection options are a straight connector and a rotatable right-angled connector, giving two cable exit directions for tight cabinet layouts.
Mechanical interface — shaft, flange, and cooling
The shaft diameter is 38 mm with a 10 mm parallel key and 80 mm shaft length. The flange is an international standard pattern with a 205 mm flange size and 180 mm centring collar diameter. Four mounting holes at 14 mm diameter on the flange. Overall length is 321 mm. Cooling is natural convection — no external fan, so at low speeds or in stalled conditions the motor relies on its own surface area; continuous torque may need derating below the rated speed if the duty cycle is high.
Environmental protection and bearing loads
The IP rating depends on the shaft seal: IP54 without a shaft seal ring, IP65 with one. IP65 is suitable for washdown environments; IP54 is for dry indoor cabinets. Maximum radial force Fr is 3730 N at 1000 rpm, 2960 N at 2000 rpm, and 2580 N at 3000 rpm. Maximum axial force Fa is 740 N. These bearing load limits govern belt tension or gear overhung loads.
Electrical parameters for drive tuning
Stator resistance is 0.3 Ohm and stator inductance is 2.97 mH. The back EMF constant is 104 V/krpm at 20°C. These values go into the drive's current-loop and velocity-loop autotuning. The motor has 5 poles, so the electrical frequency at 3000 rpm is 125 Hz (5 poles × 3000 rpm / 120).
