Built for the pit — IP65 and a brake that holds
The SH32051P12F2100: This is a three-phase synchronous servo motor from the SH3 series, delivering 5500 W continuous power at 400 V three-phase supply. The IP65 rating covers both the motor body and the shaft bushing per IEC 60034-5 — that means abrasive ore dust and washdown water stay out of the windings and bearings. The integrated holding brake is rated 80 N.m (708 lbf.in) — enough to hold a vertical Z-axis or a crusher-gate position when the drive powers down. No external brake resistor needed for static holding.
Speed and torque — the voltage-dependent curve
Nominal speed shifts with supply: 750 rpm at 115 V single-phase, 1500 rpm at 230 V single-phase, 3000 rpm at 400 V three-phase, and 3600 rpm at 480 V three-phase. The full 5500 W continuous output is only available at 400 V three-phase; at 480 V the power drops to 5200 W. Nominal torque also varies by supply: 31.9 N.m at 115 V single-phase, 27 N.m at 230 V single-phase, 17.5 N.m at 400 V three-phase, and 13.8 N.m at 480 V three-phase. The continuous stall torque is 36.9 N.m across the 115-480 V three-phase range — that's the holding torque for positioning without overshoot when the brake is not engaged. Peak stall torque hits 110 N.m (973.6 lbf.in) on three-phase supply, available for 3 seconds. The torque constant is 1.75 N.m/A at 120 °C copper temperature, and the back EMF constant is 104 V/krpm at 20 °C — factor that into the drive's DC bus voltage margin if you need full speed under load.
Encoder and feedback — absolute position, no homing
The absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface encoder means the drive knows the rotor position at power-up — no homing cycle required after a power loss or emergency stop. This is a time-saver on multi-axis machines where a home sequence would take minutes. The electrical connection uses a rotatable right-angled connector — you can orient the cable exit to clear the machine frame or cable tray without adding a right-angle adapter.
Mounting and mechanical interface
International standard flange, 205 mm (8.07 in) flange size, with a 38 mm (1.5 in) shaft diameter and a parallel key. The centring collar depth is 4 mm (0.2 in). Mounting hole diameter is 14 mm (0.6 in) — standard metric bolt pattern. Maximum radial force Fr is 3730 N at 1000 rpm, dropping to 2580 N at 3000 rpm. Maximum axial force Fa is 740 N. Stay within these limits to avoid bearing overload — especially on belt-driven loads where radial force is higher.
