Trip unit and protection — what the TM-D ratings mean
The TM-D trip unit is thermal-magnetic: the thermal element (L) handles overload protection with a built-in thermal memory that retains heat history after a trip, preventing immediate reclosure on a hot breaker. The magnetic element (I) provides short-circuit protection with a fixed threshold. Power dissipation is 11 W per pole, so at full load the three poles together dissipate 33 W inside the enclosure; factor that into your thermal budget. For a distribution breaker in a solar combiner or main panel, that's a solid service life — not a daily-switching device, but built for years of infrequent operation.
Mounting, dimensions, and environment
Fixed backplate mount with a 40 mm pole pitch. Dimensions: 205 mm high, 120 mm wide, 105 mm deep. Mounting position is horizontal or vertical — no derating required for orientation. Ambient storage range is -35 to 85 °C; operating altitude 0–2000 m without derating, 2000–5000 m with derating. Colour is grey (RAL 7015). The toggle control type provides visual on/off indication.
