The Schneider Electric VW3A28804 is an IP43 enclosure option kit sized for Altivar drive frame size 4. It provides a higher ingress protection rating than the standard open-drive configuration, suited for environments where dust ingress or splash exposure is a concern but full washdown protection is not required.
What the IP43 Rating Means
IP43 protects against solid objects larger than 1 mm (tools, wires) and water spray up to 60° from vertical. For a drive enclosure, this is a step up from the standard IP20/IP21 found on most Altivar size 4 drives, allowing installation in a cleaner but non-sealed cabinet environment without additional enclosure spend. It does not protect against hose-down or submersion.
